Product thinking is an engineering discipline
5 min
Most software fails quietly. It ships, it works, and then it slowly stops matching the work it was meant to support. The gap is rarely a missing feature. It is a missing point of view.
Product thinking is not a workshop that happens before engineering starts. It is a discipline that lives inside engineering: who is this for, what decision does it change, what happens when the team grows, and what should never be configurable.
At JIV Technologies we build both our own products and software for other businesses. That combination keeps us honest. A product you own has to survive contact with real users. A product you build for someone else has to survive their operations, their constraints, and their future.
The work is the same in both cases. Understand the workflow. Design the system. Engineer it so it can evolve. Then keep going.
